These are precious days for inkscape gallery, we are planning to release it officially in the next week, so we're making a lot of improvements and fixes at the same time.
Most of these are suggestions or doubts coming from the debate inside the inkscape user list, that is a great help doing the last stage of this web site development.
In particular, i was wondering how to decrease the weight of the "header" section of the layout, it was good for the home page but not if used as it was in the whole website.
So, try this one, you see now playstation button like in the menu area and they are buttons to hide and reveal the buttons menu area, with all the search box and the login box.
I choosed to present it open in most of the sections, but if you look you'll find that it's being hidden in "random gallery", "site as a slideshow", "artist".
I'm planning to do something more for the home-page, that will let users choose which drawing will be showed in the home (below the quickstart section).
I'll tell you when i'll find the best way.
